Role Summary

Phlebotomist role at Grifols in a plasma center. You will assist in donor suitability, establish rapport with donors to ensure donor happiness and confidentiality, respond to donor reactions, monitor donor health and equipment, and operate automated plasmapheresis machines to maintain donor comfort and product quality. This role requires a high school diploma or GED and any applicable state licensures or certifications. Location: Charlotte, NC, USA.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in determining the suitability of donors.
  • Establish rapport with donors to ensure overall customer happiness while ensuring donor confidentiality.
  • Respond to and assist with handling donor reactions.
  • Monitor donor and equipment to ensure health of donors and quality of product.
  • Set up, disconnect, and operate the automated plasmapheresis machines.
  • Disconnect and dispose of all contaminated disposable equipment.

Education

  • High School diploma or GED

Additional Requirements

  • Work is performed in a plasma center; exposure to biological fluids and potential exposure to infectious organisms.
  • Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment.
  • Exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F while working in a plasma freezer.
  • Personal protective equipment required (protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold-gear).
  • Standing for 6 to 8 hours per day; bending and twisting neck and waist for 1–2 hours per day.
  • Frequent hand movements and coordinated finger movements; may walk up to 6–8 hours per day.
  • Light lifting of 15 lbs with a maximum lift of 50 lbs; may reach below shoulder height.
  • Hearing acuity, color perception, near and far vision (correctable in one eye to 20/30 and in the other to 20/100).
  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions; ability to listen to and understand information presented verbally; follow oral or written instructions.
  • Relates to sensitive information with diverse groups.
