Role Summary
Phlebotomist position responsible for ensuring the safety of donors and purity of product during the plasma collection process, monitoring donors for equipment errors, reactions, or unexpected events, and maintaining product integrity and appropriate sample handling.
Responsibilities
- Set up automated collection instruments and monitor donors through the collection process.
- Disconnect donors from instruments and manage Level 1 donor reactions.
- Ensure product integrity of plasma units and associated samples; dispose of products appropriately.
- Collect appropriate samples, ensure products are frozen and stored per procedures, and stage units for shipment and testing.
- Physically arrange samples and cases in freezer to maintain organization.
- Interact professionally with donors and maintain courteous service; collaborate with coworkers with teamwork, respect, and courtesy.
- Cross-train and qualify for plasma processing and donor screener functions as standard expectations; pursue Advanced Phlebotomist position when appropriate.
Qualifications
- Required: Successful completion and maintenance of phlebotomy qualification; ability to interpret health history and vital signs against company criteria.
- Preferred: Cross-training in plasma processing and donor screener functions; ongoing professional development to advance to Advanced Phlebotomist.
