Phlebotomist

Role Summary

Phlebotomist role at Grifols. You will assist in determining donor suitability, maintain donor confidentiality and comfort, respond to donor reactions, monitor donor health and equipment, and operate automated plasmapheresis machines. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with any state licensure or certifications where applicable. Location: Terre Haute, IN, USA.

Responsibilities

• Assist in determining the suitability of donors.
• Establish rapport with donors to ensure overall customer happiness while ensuring donor confidentiality.
• Respond to and assist with handling donor reactions.
• Monitor donor and equipment to ensure health of donors and quality of product.
• Set up, disconnect, and operate the automated plasmapheresis machines.
• Disconnect and dispose of all contaminated disposable equipment.

• Occupational Demands: Work is performed in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids and potential exposure to infectious organisms; exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment; exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F while working in plasma freezer; required personal protective equipment; standing 6 to 8 hours per day; bending and twisting neck and waist for 1-2 hours per day; frequent hand movement and finger dexterity; ability to grasp and manipulate objects; frequent foot movement; may walk up to 6-8 hours per day; light lifting of up to 50 lbs; vision and hearing requirements; ability to follow oral or written instructions; ability to understand information and ideas presented through speech; relates to diverse groups.
