Role Summary

The Phlebotomist will support plasma collection in a center by assisting in determining donor suitability, establishing rapport with donors, handling donor reactions, and monitoring donor health and equipment. The role includes setting up, disconnecting, and operating automated plasmapheresis machines and disposing of contaminated disposable equipment, while maintaining donor confidentiality and ensuring product quality. Location: Williamsport, PA.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in determining the suitability of donors.
  • Establish rapport with donors to ensure donor happiness while maintaining donor confidentiality.
  • Respond to and assist with handling donor reactions.
  • Monitor donors and equipment to ensure donor health and product quality.
  • Set up, disconnect, and operate automated plasmapheresis machines.
  • Disconnect and dispose of contaminated disposable equipment.

Additional Requirements

  • Work is performed in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids and potential exposure to infectious organisms.
  • Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment.
  • Exposure to extreme cold in plasma freezer environments.
  • Personal protective equipment required (e.g., protective eyewear, garments, gloves).
  • Standing for 6 to 8 hours per day; bending and twisting for 1-2 hours per day; fast, precise finger/hand movements; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Good hearing; color perception and vision requirements; ability to follow oral or written instructions and communicate with diverse groups.
