Role Summary
Phlebotomist responsible for ensuring the safety of donors and purity of product during the plasma collection process. Monitors donors for equipment errors, donor reactions, or any unexpected events and takes appropriate actions. Interprets health history and vital signs in relation to company procedures.
Responsibilities
- Set up automated collection instruments and monitor donors through the collection process
- Disconnect donors from the automated instrument and manage Level 1 reactions
- Ensure product integrity of the plasma unit and associated samples; dispose of or disposition products as required and collect appropriate samples while ensuring product is frozen and stored per procedures
- Stage units for shipment and samples for testing; physically arrange samples and cases in freezer to maintain organization
- Represent the organization professionally to donors; maintain teamwork, respect, and courtesy with coworkers
- Take initiative to elevate work-related skills with the goal of obtaining the Advanced Phlebotomist position; cross-train for plasma processing and donor screener functions
Qualifications
- Required: Phlebotomist qualification and ability to interpret health history and vital signs according to company procedures
- Preferred: Cross-training and qualification for plasma processing and donor screening
