Role Summary

Phlebotomist – in a plasma center (Erie, PA). You will screen donors for suitability, establish rapport to ensure donor comfort and confidentiality, respond to donor reactions, monitor donor and equipment health, and set up, disconnect, and operate automated plasmapheresis machines. You will also dispose of contaminated equipment and contribute to product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in determining the suitability of donors.
  • Establish rapport with donors to ensure overall customer happiness while protecting donor confidentiality.
  • Respond to and assist with donor reactions.
  • Monitor donor and equipment to ensure donor health and product quality.
  • Set up, disconnect, and operate the automated plasmapheresis machines.
  • Disconnect and dispose of contaminated disposable equipment.

Education

  • High School diploma or GED

Additional Requirements

  • Work is performed in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids and potential exposure to infectious organisms.
  • Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment. Personal protective equipment required (protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold-gear).
  • Work is performed standing for 6 to 8 hours per day. Bending and twisting of neck and waist for 1–2 hours per day. Frequent hand movement and ability to manipulate small objects.
  • May walk up to 6–8 hours per day. Light lifting of 15 lb with a maximum lift of 50 lb. May reach below shoulder height.
  • Hearing acuity essential. Color perception and vision required (near and far vision, with correction as needed).
  • Must be able to listen and follow instructions and communicate effectively.
