The Position
- Assume responsibility for achieving sales goals by implementing marketing and sales strategies to effectively sell and promote Novo Nordisk’s portfolio to HCPs and other office staff.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrate competencies with territory-level impact.
- Understand local payer market (Medicare, Commercial, Medicaid), payer coverage, prescription coverage requirements, step therapy, coverage gap, copays, and deductibles; leverage this knowledge to influence customer decisions.
- Understand territory customer groups/affiliations (IPAs, medical groups, health systems, local clinics) and tailor approach; identify business opportunities.
- Analyze bidding policies/contracts to influence formulary status (as applicable).
- Assess managed care impact on prescribing decisions and modify sales/promotion strategies.
- Build relationships with specialists and hospital decision-makers who influence purchasing/prescribing/formulary decisions.
- Research and tailor account plans to stakeholders and account business practices.
- Develop and execute territory business plans based on market conditions, competitive trends, priorities, and patient needs.
- Gain and maintain business-relevant relationships with prescribers, support staff, pharmacies, and clinic administrators; collaborate on clinical management and offer NNI-approved solutions.
- Use consultative, customer-focused communication; listen to and address customer/patient needs while keeping commitments.
- Collaborate cross-functionally (e.g., Market Access, Specialty Sales) to share knowledge and opportunities.
- Implement the Novo Nordisk Edge Selling Model; use analytical tools to create territory plans and engage customers.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to implement plans and define roles/responsibilities.
- Manage samples/company property per policy and legal requirements; manage discretionary territory and promotional budgets.
- Maintain deep knowledge of disease states, treatment options, NNI and competitor products, and promoted clinical studies; support appropriate placement within the treatment continuum.
- Contribute product/disease-state knowledge in meetings, training, conventions, and displays.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree and/or PharmD required.
- Preferred: 1+ year experience in pharmaceutical/healthcare, sales, consulting, customer service, or military.
- Intermediate computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel); sales data/call reporting tools ideal.
- Self-starter able to evaluate options and make decisions with minimal supervision.
- Aptitude for leadership and decision-making.
- Solid understanding of diabetes and obesity therapy areas; ability to learn and communicate technical/scientific information.
Physical Requirement
- Valid driver’s license; in good standing per company motor vehicle records threshold.
