Position Summary
- The Payroll Administrator oversees the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payments for a multi-state and international workforce, while streamlining operations and driving continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day payroll operations, including processing and compliance.
- Process biweekly US payroll and monthly international payroll; transfer to the general ledger; maintain detailed records and reconcile payroll data.
- Develop and implement long-term payroll strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Maintain compliance by staying current on federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency.
- Audit timesheets, taxation, garnishment deductions, benefits, and 401(k) deductions.
- Process garnishment paperwork and maintain garnishment records in the payroll system.
- Address employee payroll queries promptly and professionally.
- Research, analyze, and resolve payroll issues and discrepancies; report to management as needed.
- Register with tax agencies as needed to meet regulatory requirements.
- Assist with payroll and timekeeping training for new employees and managers.
- Support HR Operations by answering employee queries, processing employment verifications, and maintaining accurate records.
- Coordinate with a 3rd-party tax service vendor for timely and accurate tax processing.
- Prepare and distribute biweekly and monthly payroll reports.
Required Qualifications
- 3β5 years of experience managing/processing payroll for a mid-sized organization or equivalent accounting experience.
- Strong payroll accounting principles, tax laws, and regulatory compliance knowledge.
- Strategic, critical-thinking problem-solving ability.
- Proficiency in payroll software and systems.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication (active listening).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in HR, accounting, finance, or equivalent experience.
- Workday Payroll experience.
- Certified Payroll Professional.
