Role Summary

Associate Vice President (AVP) โ€šร„รฌ Patient Safety Technology & Development Transformation to drive technology strategy and execution across critical areas of Lilly's global drug development ecosystem. Based in Indianapolis, Indiana, with global accountability spanning the United States and key Asian markets. Partner with senior R&D and business leaders to transform how technology enables patient safety and operational efficiency across the development portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute multi-year technology strategies for patient safety, Asia R&D, and related operational domains, translating business strategies into actionable roadmaps with clear success metrics.
  • Own the enterprise strategy to drug safety and pharmacovigilance technology systems, ensuring robust, scalable, and compliant platforms for global adverse event management, signal detection, regulatory reporting, and safety analytics.
  • Oversee transformation of Lilly's service delivery model, including insourcing at the Hyderabad center, governance, SLAs, and adoption of automation and AI to improve quality, velocity, and innovation.
  • Provide leadership to clinical and development technology teams across China, Japan, and Singapore; drive standardization while honoring local regulatory needs; promote knowledge sharing and innovation across regions.
  • Establish and execute AI roadmaps across operational areas; evaluate pilots and scale successful innovations; ensure compliance with data privacy, validation, and ethical AI standards in a regulated industry.
  • Formulate a clear vision and multi-year strategy for Safety & Clinical Technology; balance quick wins with transformational initiatives; adapt plans to regulatory changes and technology trends.
  • Serve as the primary technology partner to senior leaders in Patient Safety, Clinical Development Operations, and Asia regional leaders; communicate progress, risks, and value to executives; lead governance processes for alignment and investment decisions.
  • Build and lead a diverse, high-performing global team; attract, develop, and retain talent; foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Ensure reliable, secure, and compliant operation of all systems; manage data protection, cybersecurity, availability, and regulatory compliance; drive continuous improvement and effective vendor relationships.
  • Develop and manage budgets; build business cases for investments; track performance against budget and allocate resources to high-priority initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: 15+ years of Pharma/Life Sciences IT leadership experience; deep involvement in drug development IT and pharmacovigilance/safety systems; proven collaboration with Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Operations, or Medical Affairs.
  • Enterprise transformation experience leading complex, multi-year programs in global organizations; experience with offshore/nearshore capability centers; adept at navigating vendor ecosystems.
  • Hands-on innovation and advanced analytics in life sciences; experience deploying AI/ML/advanced analytics with measurable business impact.
  • Regulated environment expertise: knowledge of GCP, pharmacovigilance practices, electronic records, data privacy; ability to ensure compliance across Quality, Regulatory, and Compliance functions.
  • Educational background: Masterโ€šร„รดs or PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related scientific field; MBA or equivalent business training is a plus.
