Role Summary

Associate Software Engineer role focused on developing and managing scientific data solutions to enable capture, management, and integration of scientific data in R&D. Collaborates with laboratory scientists, software engineers, and external partners to facilitate data capture and maximize its usefulness in the R&D process.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain reliable software tools for R&D functions that accelerate and improve research processes
  • Configure and maintain lab information management solutions (Dotmatics and Benchling)
  • Develop and customize informatics solutions for processes including protein and oligonucleotide therapeutics, capturing and retrieving molecular properties and experimental data
  • Collaborate with scientists, software developers, IT, and other stakeholders to deliver right-sized solutions; maintain and improve existing tools; contribute to standardization efforts
  • Provide training, documentation, troubleshooting, and support to ensure adoption and proper use of tools and systems
  • Champion scientific data quality

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Required: Experience in pharmaceutical/industrial chemistry/biotech environments and with LIMS, ELN, laboratory informatics projects, and/or scientific software development
  • Required: Familiarity with common lab workflows and data management; ability to collaborate with scientists
  • Required: Track record of delivering laboratory informatics solutions and applying modern software engineering practices
  • Required: Experience developing and maintaining reliable, well-documented software applications
  • Required: Proficiency in web application development with Python (Django) and SQL; knowledge of version control, code review, and testing
  • Preferred: Experience with cloud services (AWS) and containerized environments (Docker)
