Role: Patent Counsel specializing in chemical and biological sciences within the biopharma industry, supporting R&D from discovery through commercialization. Responsibilities: develop patent strategies, draft and prosecute global patent applications, conduct freedom-to-operate analyses, support IP due diligence for business development (collaborations, acquisitions), and collaborate with legal and R&D teams. Requirements: Bachelor's in biological, pharmaceutical, or chemical sciences; JD from an accredited US law school; USPTO registration; 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biological patent law. Preferred: advanced science degree, client counseling experience, cross-functional collaboration, and strong communication skills. High-Value: focus on biopharmaceuticals, therapeutic areas, and modalities; support of patenting across product lifecycle; interaction with discovery, development, manufacturing, and regulatory teams. Work Setup: hybrid in New Jersey or Massachusetts; approximately 10% travel.
