Patent Attorney

Role: Patent Attorney specializing in pharmaceutical and biotech innovations, supporting Novartis R&D. Primary objectives include developing and managing patent portfolios, providing strategic IP counsel, and safeguarding inventions related to new molecular entities, processes, and technologies across global patent systems. Responsibilities encompass drafting, prosecuting, and defending patents; conducting patentability, validity, and freedom-to-operate analyses; advising on legal risks; supporting IP aspects of M&A and collaborations; and engaging with legal, scientific, and business stakeholders. Requirements: JD with bar admission and USPTO registration; advanced degree in chemistry or related field, preferably doctoral; significant experience as a patent attorney in pharma or biotech, with expertise in U.S., PCT, and European patent law; strong technical background in small molecules or pharmaceutical development; excellent analytical and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a global environment. High-value specifics include focus on small molecule pharmaceuticals, innovation across R&D projects, and IP strategy in a fast-paced, multinational setting.
