Role: Patent Attorney at Novartis focusing on intellectual property strategy for innovative biopharmaceuticals. Responsibilities include providing IP guidance to R&D teams, building and managing patent portfolios aligned with scientific and product milestones, drafting and prosecuting patent applications domestically and internationally, and advising on patentability, validity, and freedom to operate. The role also involves shaping publication strategies, leading due diligence, and collaborating with global teams and external counsel. Requirements: Juris Doctor, admission to US state bar, registration with USPTO, PhD in biology, biochemistry, or related life sciences, and 7+ years of patent law experience in law firms or life sciences companies. Strong scientific background, including hands-on lab experience, and expertise in US and PCT patent prosecution are essential. Preferred: knowledge of European patent practice and experience in biopharma sectors such as biologics, small molecules, or advanced therapies.
