Position: Packaging Line Tech 1
Manager: Assistant Operations Manager / Packaging Supervisor
Department: Production / Packaging
Overview
Packaging Team performs canning, bottling, kegging, and re-packing of beer. This is the first level in the Packaging Ladder in a fast-paced production environment. Reports to the Assistant Operations Manager; also takes direction from the Packaging Supervisor and Packaging Shift Leads.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to safety standards; complete required safety trainings; report safety concerns.
- Adhere to quality standards; report quality concerns.
- Understand all packaging types of the beer.
- Operate packaging equipment per Machine Operations Matrix; assist in ~20 machine changeovers/year.
- Complete audits for each machine (set up machine correctly, ensure right product, manage end-of-run counts; each run: audits every 30 minutes).
- Troubleshoot equipment; notify Tech II/III, Shift Lead, supervisor, or manager in a timely manner.
- Clean facilities/operation area; ensure proper cleaning and associated paperwork (daily/weekly as required).
- Complete end-of-run material counts; fill out batch tracking; note materials left on partial pallets.
- Understand chemicals and required PPE.
- Read and understand SOPs.
- Alert Shift Leader/Management of potential quality or safety concerns.
Minimum Qualifications
- Prior experience in a Packaging environment (preferred).
- Ability to carry/lift 50–165 lbs; crouch, bend, lift, stoop, and reach.
- Work on feet 8+ hours; work in hot/wet/loud environment; work around steam, electricity, harsh chemicals, and solvents.
- Flexible to work day/afternoon/midnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Mechanical background (preferred).
Education
- High School Diploma (required).
