The packaging mechanic is responsible for the continuous functioning of manufacturing packaging line systems and equipment within the Packaging and Manufacturing departments. Responsibilities include setup of packaging equipment, routine maintenance, repair, minor electrical troubleshooting, and partnering with Engineering to install and commission new packaging lines.
Essential Functions:
- Troubleshoot and repair packaging line systems and equipment (vertical form and fill bagging machines, rotary cartoners, weigh scales, tapers, conveyors). Partner with Engineering to install and commission new packaging line systems and perform modifications as needed.
- Repair packaging equipment, including root cause analysis, using technical documentation, assessing material requirements, requisition placement, completing repairs, and replacing parts.
- Perform preventive maintenance and execute preventative maintenance schedules.
- Document work accurately and timely in equipment logbooks, communications, and during shift handoffs.
- Train team members on equipment issues to prevent future occurrences.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School or GED (Required)
- Experience: 5+ years in packaging equipment or related manufacturing equipment
Compensation/Benefits (as stated):
- Hourly rate: $25.00β$35.00 per hour; short-term incentive opportunity within first 12 months. Benefits include health/insurance and 401(k) matching for eligible positions.
