The packaging mechanic is responsible for the continuous functioning of manufacturing packaging line systems and equipment within the Packaging and Manufacturing departments. Duties include setup of packaging equipment, routine maintenance, repair, minor electrical troubleshooting, and partnering with Engineering to install and commission new packaging lines.
Schedule: 12-hour rotating schedule, 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
Essential Functions:
- Troubleshoot and repair packaging line systems and equipment (vertical form/fill bagging machines, rotary cartoners, weigh scales, tapers, conveyors).
- Partner with Engineering to install and commission new packaging lines; modify existing lines as needed.
- Perform equipment repairs including root cause analysis, use of technical documentation, assessment of materials, requisition placement, and part replacement.
- Execute preventive maintenance schedules.
- Document work in equipment logbooks/communications and communicate during shift handoffs.
- Train team members on equipment issues to prevent recurrence.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School or GED (Required).
- Experience: 5 years of hands-on mechanical experience with packaging equipment or related manufacturing machinery.
- Required: Successful completion of an OSHA-compliant Respirator Fit Test.
Pay/Benefits (as stated): $25.00β$35.00/hour; short-term incentive opportunity within first 12 months; eligible health/insurance benefits and 401(k) matching.
