Role Summary

Perrigo Company is looking for a hands-on Package Engineer Intern for our Global Operations Package Engineering team, located in Allegan, MI. The role provides packaging engineering support and expertise through design, development, and maintenance of packaging standards for company and subcontracting sites. You will work with cross-functional teams to develop packaging for national and store brand self-care products for major US and global retailers, applying your undergraduate knowledge to support project launches.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and resolves packaging issues related to component quality, equipment, and line efficiency; participates in deviation resolutions; coordinates and documents line trials for new or improved packaging components
  • Collaborates with Operations, Sales, Marketing, Procurement, Contract Customers, Contract Packagers, Master Data, Graphics and Quality to launch new products/packages, develop promotions and displays, and identify cost-saving opportunities; troubleshoots packaging problems
  • Develops and prepares packaging documentation including specifications, BOMs, and engineering drawings
  • Conducts and documents package testing for component qualification
  • Identifies and supports projects related to process, systems, sustainability, and documentation improvements
  • Utilizes TOPS, AutoCAD, ArtiosCAD and SAP to generate packaging documentation; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Collaborates with senior packaging engineers on higher-level projects as they arise

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited Packaging Engineering or equivalent engineering program with a minimum of 2 completed years of undergraduate studies; preferred courses include packaging distribution dynamics, packaging development technology, and packaging processes (PKG 315, 322, 323)
  • Available to commit to the temporary assignment estimated January 2026 through June 2026 or June 2026 through December 2026
