GEO Operations Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Execute with the CMO the production plan to deliver an uninterrupted supply of clinical & commercial product.
- Manage the CMO meeting schedule with cross-functional colleagues.
- Identify supply constraints and negotiate/resolve issues with the CMO to meet the supply plan.
- Manage escalations and communications within the process team/GEO site.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure uninterrupted product supply.
- Perform root cause analysis (or equivalent) and implement corrective actions.
- Manage material movement between CMO sites with internal partners.
- Attend at the CMO to monitor production campaigns and learn the manufacturing process and systems.
- Maintain a GEO business visual metric/dashboard.
- Coordinate evaluation of process changes, change requests, and deviations to ensure timely resolution without impacting supply.
- Serve as the primary communications conduit between the CMO and BioMarin teams to meet the supply plan.
- Lead/participate in technology transfers, new product launches, and validation activities (with Process Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality).
- Contribute to formal systems/procedures for selecting CMOs.
- Initiate/implement control systems within budget to reduce cost of goods.
- Ensure CMO compliance with cGMPs (with Corporate Compliance and Quality).
- Support CMO contract/negotiations with procurement and EPM teams.
- Represent assigned product, CMO, and GEO Ops team at relevant meetings.
Additional ORP (as required)
- Establish/maintain GEO processes and project templates for ORP management.
- Conduct operations gap analysis for new CMOs and lead mitigation plans.
- Transition Operations activities from PPQ/Launch Phase into the Commercial Process Team.
- Lead site exit projects for GEO.
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5 years leadership experience in Operations, Supply Chain, or Quality.
- BS/BA degree in life sciences, business, or supply chain management.
- Excellent understanding of processes/unit operations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead/manage cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to guide cross-functional teams to resolve short-term issues and sustain long-term performance.
- Proven effective decision-making.
- High initiative, influencing/coaching, and strong organizational skills.
- Experience in regulated GxP environments.
- Strong stakeholder and relationship management.
- Desired: CAPA, FMEA, and RCA tools in highly regulated manufacturing.
- Excellent written/verbal communication and commercial acumen.
- Experience with supply planning or inventory management.
