Role Summary

This is a field-based and remote opportunity supporting key accounts in Birmingham, Huntsville, Tuscaloosa and the Shoals in northwest Alabama. The Oncology Sales Specialist will deliver sales performance and promote product(s) within the oncology, hematology or rare disease portfolio for Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation. You should demonstrate commercial insight, curiosity, collaboration, and readiness to adopt digital tools to enhance sales opportunities in competitive markets.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate cross-functionally in each geography as ONE team, demonstrating influential leadership to build and achieve shared goals.
  • Demonstrate self-awareness, a passion for learning, the ability to inspire others, and openness to change to optimize execution.
  • Deliver clear, compelling messages to customers, handle objections, and close calls with a commitment to action to drive behavior change.
  • Understand territory market landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, product and clinical data; anticipate environmental changes to optimize execution.
  • Develop and execute a call-plan to achieve goals and improve access and sales opportunities, promoting a technical and innovative product portfolio to a sophisticated audience.
  • Understand the local healthcare system landscape, EMRs, pathways, and PA-claims processing; develop and execute account-level plans.
  • Use sales data reporting tools to identify trends and combine with customer insights to grow territory and customer opportunities.
  • Leverage social media to capture customer insights and drive tactical execution and customer experience improvements.
  • Move between non-digital and digital settings and use non-personal tools to deliver customized customer experiences.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree a plus.
  • Required: 2+ years’ experience in specialty pharmaceuticals, biotech, or a sales role of similar complexity within the last 5 years.
  • Required: Ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a matrix environment, communicate clinical product information, and consistently perform at a high level; experience selling to large accounts and key customer segments.
  • Required: Self-starter with analytical abilities; promote ethical behavior and compliance with company policies and laws.
  • Required: Reside within the territory or within 50 miles of the territory border; willingness to travel 60-80%; valid driver’s license.

Desirable

  • Experience across therapeutic groups, disease states, account management strategy, and new product launches.
  • Broad understanding of patient services, market access, buy and bill, specialty pharmacy, reimbursement, or medical calling on HCPs for a sophisticated product or pathway.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.
