Role Summary
The Oncology Business Director (OBD) leads a Sales team focused on achieving success within the hematology/oncology community. This role requires strong leadership to maximize business opportunities and collaboration with key functions. Region includes Southern CA, AZ, and NM.
Responsibilities
- Understand the evolving oncology marketplace and its customer segments.
- Develop a regional strategic vision and implement clear regional and territory business plans based on national sales strategies.
- Recruit, interview, and hire top talent for Oncology Hematology Specialist (OHS).
- Evaluate and coach field sales team members on product knowledge, disease states, market dynamics, and selling skills based on live engagements.
- Motivate, retain, and develop OHSs to meet revenue targets.
- Ability to build and sustain a high performing team through clear role clarity and goals.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies.
- Conduct annual and ongoing performance reviews.
- Communicate and execute product marketing strategies.
- Share best practices with direct reports, peers, and headquarters.
- Conduct sales meetings to drive performance.
- Develop relationships with local Thought Leaders to achieve aligned objectives.
- Direct OHSs in marketing, resource allocation, and leveraging internal/external resources.
- Orchestrate cross functional pull through with product strategy, market access, medical, and training to ensure strong field execution and a seamless customer experience.
- Foster a culture of innovative thinking that will lead to improved patient impact and overall performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- A minimum of 10 years of successful experience in biotech/pharmaceutical sales.
- At least 3 years of experience in the Oncology market, with a preference for experience in the lymphoma category.
- Previous direct sales management experience preferred.
- Product launch experience preferred.
- Proven track record of successful sales and leadership performance. Experience in product marketing, access and reimbursement, or account management is a plus.
- Documented success in annual reviews and up-to-date sales reports.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Sales database applications.
- Valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel 50% of the time.
