Role Summary

This is a field-based and remote opportunity supporting a team in an assigned region. The Executive Director, Sales will be a strategic and innovative leader responsible for motivating and guiding an agile field force, focusing on problem-solving and enhancing customer experience to boost sales performance. You will oversee the development, coordination, and execution of national and regional commercial customer engagement strategies to support disease area strategies by understanding the needs of key regional accounts and the local healthcare ecosystem to create a seamless experience for accounts. You will drive sales performance and profitability of the therapeutic area portfolio brands within the region, execute new product launches, craft overall business strategies for the area's sales organization, and develop a dedicated team.

Responsibilities

  • Inspire and support a nationwide team of Customer Engagement professionals to elevate customer experience and drive business strategies that meet or exceed sales goals within the therapeutic area.
  • Serve as a strategic leader bringing emotional maturity, creativity, and integrity to decision-making while fostering a collaborative, inclusive environment.
  • Partner with cross-functional colleagues to shape a product strategy reflecting national and local market needs, ensuring a seamless customer journey.
  • Lead development and execution of key initiatives across the therapeutic area, collaborating across departments and championing change management aligned with Customer Engagement and US enterprise priorities.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Patient Services, and Market Access to understand customer needs and team dynamics, translating insights into promotional strategies that boost performance.
  • Build and nurture a high-performing, diverse Customer Experience team through inclusive hiring, succession planning, and professional development; promote a patient-centered culture rooted in company values.
  • Allocate resources to meet regional sales targets, maximize ROI, and respond to opportunities and risks; guide budgeting to support regional strategies.
  • Maintain meaningful customer relationships by gathering insights and sharing them across teams to shape products and services that meet customer needs.
  • Ensure understanding of payer landscape and reimbursement processes to inform strategic decisions and support access solutions.
  • Tailor and implement marketing strategies locally, developing business plans in collaboration with partners and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelorโ€™s degree from a 4-year college or university.
  • Required: 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or similarly structured industries with large, geographically dispersed sales teams; experience in other complex sales environments is welcomed.
  • Required: Track record of delivering strong results by driving sales performance, leading cross-functional teams, and executing strategy across multi-regional environments; fostering inclusive, high-performing teams.
  • Required: Experience managing large field teams (100-300 people) as a second-line leader, with change navigation and growth support.
  • Required: Cross-functional experience in market access, reimbursement, and account management; strong understanding of payer systems, buy-and-bill models, and specialty pharmacy; ability to lead strategic initiatives and manage complex budgets.
  • Required: Strong operational capabilities and business acumen, including preparing field teams for launches and aligning national/local go-to-market strategies.
  • Required: Understanding of national and local market access dynamics and ability to collaborate across teams and partners to co-create solutions that support access and impact.
  • Required: Residency within the region or reasonable commuting distance to a metropolitan airport; willingness to travel 60-80%; valid driverโ€™s license.
