Primary Responsibilities
- Execute and promote products in alignment with sales strategy in the assigned territory.
- Collaborate with the District Sales Manager on day-to-day sales and product promotion activities.
- Analyze local market and develop, execute, and monitor performance to maximize appropriate product use in the territory.
- Maintain current knowledge of product, disease, competitive landscape, and market reimbursement.
- Determine, implement, and monitor optimal resource allocation (e.g., budgets, time) in the territory.
- Use advanced selling and negotiation skills to communicate effectively with target audiences.
- Identify, build, and leverage advocacy channels.
- Secure product access and reimbursement within institutional systems as needed.
- Manage travel and promotional budget.
- Complete monitoring and reporting requirements (expenses and call reporting) using approved systems.
- Maintain compliance with laws, regulations, and Vanda policies.
- Meet industry-standard credentialing requirements for healthcare providers, customer facilities, and state/local governments.
- Additional ad-hoc projects as needed.

Education & Experience / Qualifications
- BS/BA with GPA > 3.0.
- Minimum 3 years pharmaceutical sales experience (preferred); may be considered for “Associate” if not met.
- Preferred: atypical anti-psychotic and/or orphan drug experience; specialty experience in psychiatry, bipolar, depression, CNS, or pain management; reimbursement experience.
- Preferred relationships (or within 24 months) with psychiatrists and/or Community Mental Health Centers in the territory.
- Valid driver’s license; clean driving history.
- Self-starter; goal/results driven; “hunter” mentality.
- Ability to travel (may include overnights) and occasional out-of-territory travel; must reside within territory geography.

- Clinical, patient-centric, tactical; strong interpersonal/verbal/written communication.
- Navigate complex markets/organizations; strong organization/work ethic.
- Manage multiple priorities independently; adjust to roadblocks.
- Computer proficient; operate vehicle as required; may lift/move up to 15 pounds occasionally.
