Role Summary

The National Vaccine Contracting Director (NVCD) will serve as the primary interface with the National Account Team for customers to include, but not limited to, national integrated delivery networks (IDNs), national and regional payers, physician buying groups (PBGs), group purchasing organizations (GPOs) and specialty accounts (VaxCare, Dialysis, Kaiser) for the U.S. Vaccines Business Unit. The NVCD will work closely with the NADs and be the primary contact for executing contract strategy for all national account customers. The NVCD will work with the IDN and PBG strategy teams to develop and present contract offers, monitor contract performance, communicate pricing changes and contract analytics. If appropriate, the NVCD will prepare and present the Market Comparison Tool (MCT) to national IDNs and PBG organizations. The NVCD will also work closely with the iVCM team/Senior Director to review opportunities at the PBG member level and with the NAD set individual PBG goals. The NVCD will coordinate with the GPO NAD to deliver contract updates, engage GPO aggregators (VPN, CAPTIS, Excelerate, etc.) and conduct monthly reviews using the dashboard/QBR. The NVCD will be responsible for preparing and presenting to governance committees and the Meets the Competition (MTC) committee when appropriate. The role requires strong contracting knowledge across various segments. An in-depth understanding of US payer landscape, buy and bill product experience, well developed negotiation skills, and understanding of pricing & contracting in the context of complex organizations. The role will report to the Senior Director, Team Lead โ€šร„รฌ Vaccine Contract Managers. The National Vaccine Contract Director will work collaboratively with brand and customer marketing, USMA, field teams, legal, finance and trade to enable commercial efforts. The colleague will work in collaboration with the integrated account team to develop implementation plans for specific contracts and communicate learnings across the Vaccine Account Management/National Account Director organizations to increase effectiveness. This includes responsibility for increasing revenues through the development of business partnerships, problem resolution, and customer service with key executives of trading partners.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute business plans that position the Pfizer Vaccines portfolio to achieve revenue and business objectives by leading the development and growth of large contracting entity assigned business partnerships
  • Responsible for optimizing the patient experience through mutually beneficial B2B interactions, coordinating all aspects of healthcare collaboration with assigned accounts, and proactively strategizing with internal stakeholders as it relates to account/trends and opportunities.
  • Form collaborative partnerships with decision-makers within accounts to conduct needs assessments and deliver compliant solutions that will increase access and the appropriate use of Pfizer vaccines.
  • Execute the Pfizer U.S. Vaccines contracting strategy by developing and maintaining relationships as well as negotiating and monitoring the performance of contracts with IDNs, PBGs, GPOs, Specialty and other commercial customers as required.
  • Understand US payer landscape and lead development of payer related strategies in collaboration with USMA organization and Pfizer cross functional colleagues. Be an expert on these areas with the national team.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with integrated account teams to achieve targeted business objectives in prioritized accounts.
  • Execute programs across customer segments and present approved materials to deliver value added messaging in a compelling manner; developing and executing programs that are strategic in nature and may have near, mid, and long-term market and financial impact
  • Collect and share learnings and leading practices from national contracting negotiations and customer interactions across the US Vaccines team, Vaccine Account Managers, and other Pfizer internal stakeholders to increase the education and effectiveness of working with this customer segment
  • Coordinate with the NADs Discovery Calls and After-Action Reviews (AAR) to gain better insights into customer behaviors and decision making.
  • Meet or exceed product performance objectives for assigned portfolio of vaccines. KPIs include, but are not limited to, vaccine portfolio utilization, protocol development, contract closure and performance, peer and leader feedback, project management and account management skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€šร„รดs degree and 10+ years of experience required, or Master's degree and 9+ years of experience, or Ph.D./PharmD and 7+ years of experience required.
  • Ability to travel >50% of the time
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully engage executive/administrative level personnel at large accounts
  • Successful history of leading a complex stakeholder matrix (internal and external)
  • Ability to deliver complex pricing/value messages to organized provider accounts in a fully compliant fashion
  • Demonstrated financial/business acumen, strategic thinking, leading without authority and project management
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving and comfort managing complex issues/obstacles
  • Experience using data and all available information to prioritize business opportunities
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating effectively and gaining alignment with colleagues across different parts of the organization (including field and HQ), and leading (formally or informally) cross-functional teams
  • Functional/Technical Skills and expertise in Excel for analyzing and interpreting data
  • Valid US driverโ€šร„รดs license and driving record in compliance with company standards. Any DUI/DWI or other impaired driving citation within the past 7 years will disqualify you from being hired.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical (or related) experience in customer-facing roles/functions preferred.
  • 3+ years of Physician Buying Group (PBG) contracting engagement experience
  • 2+ Experience with specialty and non-traditional vaccine contracting customers (VaxCare, Kaiser, Dialysis)
  • 3 Plus years of Vaccine Contract Manager (VCM) experience
