Responsibilities:
- Serve as field-based scientific expert supporting research and business objectives for a designated therapeutic area across the product life cycle within a specific geography/territory.
- Act as the primary communicator of AbbVie science with healthcare professionals in the assigned territory.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers to provide medical and scientific support.
- Act as a peer scientific expert in a designated therapeutic area/product.
- Provide information, education, and research activities for physicians and ancillary healthcare professionals regarding current and future AbbVie therapies.
- Work with other AbbVie personnel to meet information/education/research needs and identify training needs for commercial organizations.
- Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with thought leaders, academic centers, and researchers.
- Present scientific information and education on disease state, therapeutic landscape, and AbbVie products across the product lifecycle.
- Support research initiatives (e.g., site evaluation/identification, recruitment, investigator meetings, external expert identification, and external collaboration management).
- Prepare the marketplace in new therapeutic areas by creating medical community awareness and relationships.
- Collaborate with cross-functional internal partners and, as appropriate, in-field commercial teams to develop and execute account plans; serve as a scientific resource.
- Answer unsolicited medical questions and address other clinically related medical information issues.
- Provide ongoing training to medical affairs, field sales, and other internal personnel as directed.
- Practice core capabilities in strategic segmentation and optimal resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with corporate/divisional policies and maintain accurate documentation for HCP interactions; maintain annual expenses within assigned budget parameters.
- Live in the territory (Upstate NY, VT, NH, Maine) or be willing to self-relocate.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree required (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, or APP such as Physician Associate or Nurse Practitioner) in a relevant scientific discipline; doctorate strongly preferred.
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and translate territory and corporate needs to support internal/external customers and achieve business and clinical objectives.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, presentation and teaching skills; ability to work independently and in a team; strong planning and organizational skills; ability to adapt to new structures/processes/cultures.
- Meet HCIR (health care industry representative) credentialing requirements to enter facilities (may include background checks, drug screens, and proof of immunization/vaccination).
- Ability to learn and convey clinical and non-clinical technical information; engage audiences and support retention.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.
