Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and maintain professional relationships with thought leaders, academic centers, and researchers to access current medical and scientific information.
- Present scientific information and education on disease state, therapeutic landscape, and AbbVie products to healthcare professionals across the product lifecycle.
- Support research initiatives and physician-initiated projects (e.g., site evaluation/identification, recruitment, investigator meetings, external expert identification, external collaboration management) as requested by R&D, Clinical Operations, and Medical Affairs.
- Prepare the marketplace in new therapeutic areas by creating awareness and relationships in the medical community.
- Create/maintain cross-functional relationships; work with in-field commercial teams to develop and execute account plans supporting shared business objectives; serve as a scientific resource to commercial partners.
- Answer unsolicited medical questions and address clinically related medical information needs.
- Provide ongoing training to Medical Affairs, field sales, and other internal personnel as directed.
- Practice core capabilities in strategic segmentation and optimal resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with corporate/divisional policies and procedures, including accurate/timely HCP interaction documentation; maintain annual expenses within assigned budget parameters.
- Live in the territory or be willing to self-relocate within the territory (Columbia, SC and South GA).
- Job grade, level, and title determined by credentials, education, and experience.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree required (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, APP such as Physician Associate or Nurse Practitioner) in a relevant scientific discipline; doctorate strongly preferred in a health science/clinical discipline.
- Typically 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and translate territory and corporate needs to support internal/external customers and achieve business and clinical objectives.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other software; excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, teaching, planning, organizational, independence/teamwork, and adaptability skills.
- Meet health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to enter facilities/organizations (may include background checks, drug screens, and proof of immunization/vaccination).
- Ability to learn and convey clinical and non-clinical technical information effectively; ability to engage audiences and help them understand and retain information.
- Willing to travel up to 75% of the time.
