Mixed Modality (Oligonucleotide) Scientist

Role: Principal Scientist specializing in oligonucleotide process transfer and scale-up within Lilly's new Medicine Foundry, focusing on delivering clinical supply readiness for early-phase trials. Responsibilities: oversee process transfer from development to manufacturing, troubleshoot production issues, evaluate and scale-up synthesis/purification methods, author technical documentation, lead process improvements, and support investigations and deviations; mentor junior staff. Requirements: B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related; 7+ years (M.S.) or 10+ years (B.S.) experience in oligonucleotide process development or manufacturing; expertise in oligo synthesis, chromatography, TFF, lyophilization; strong data analysis and scientific troubleshooting skills; experience working with GMP regulated environments. Preferred: knowledge of upstream/downstream oligonucleotide processing, advanced analytical techniques (HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS), and process chemistry concepts; prior supervisory experience. High-Value: focus on synthetic molecules and biologics, early-stage clinical manufacturing, process transfer, and cGMP compliance. Location: initial at Indianapolis, permanent at Lebanon, Indiana; <5% travel; work in manufacturing/lab settings.
