Mixed Modality (Oligonucleotide) Scientist

Role: Principal Scientist in Oligonucleotide Process Development at Lilly's new Medicine Foundry, focusing on transferring and scaling oligonucleotide manufacturing processes for clinical supply. Responsibilities: oversee process transfer from R&D to pilot plant, troubleshoot production issues, scale-up synthesis and purification, author technical documentation, lead process improvements, and support tech transfer activities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including CMC, Manufacturing, and Quality, providing on-floor support and training. Requirements: B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related; 10+ years (B.S.) or 7+ years (M.S.) experience in oligonucleotide R&D or manufacturing; strong knowledge of synthesis, chromatography, and aseptic processing; proficiency with analytical techniques like HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS. Preferred: experience with upstream/downstream oligo processes, process chemistry, and managing small projects. High-Value: focus on oligonucleotides (including conjugates), cGMP compliance, process scale-up to pilot and early manufacturing, and technical leadership in a manufacturing environment. Location: Indianapolis or Lebanon, Indiana, with minimal travel (<5%).
