Responsibilities:
- Develop programs, activities, and relationships to advance product value and clinical knowledge to the payer community.
- Provide payer and formulary support via value/medical presentations focused on therapeutic and economic outcomes and utilization, including evidence-based medicine, clinical guidelines, and prior authorization.
- Identify and maintain collaborative relationships with payers, policy leaders, IDNs, and HEOR opinion leaders (e.g., speaker opportunities and concepts; letters of intent for investigator-supported economics, humanistic outcome, and non-registration clinical studies).
- Share customer trends internally regarding value evidence, reimbursement, and payer policy.
- Provide complex value-based technical information (medical education, health outcomes, pharmacoeconomics models; research protocol opportunities) to appropriate audiences.
- Represent Amgen Scientific Affairs to designated payer and select IDN accounts.
- Represent Amgen to HEOR thought leaders for Global Health Economics (GHE) and the Center for Observational Research (CfOR).
- Support scientific information exchange between the medical community and Amgen on reimbursement and coverage policy.
- Collect and report competitive intelligence; manage internal relationships, budgets, and T&E within guidelines.
- Perform duties per compliance guidelines.
Territory Coverage: Pittsburgh, PA & Ohio
Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate + 2 years Medical Affairs experience OR Master’s + 4 years OR Bachelor’s + 6 years OR Associates + 10 years OR High school/GED + 12 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or D.O.
- 5 years biotech industry experience with US payer accounts.
- Therapeutic area expertise (CV, metabolic, inflammation, bone, neuro oncology).
- Deep knowledge of managed markets, US reimbursement landscape, pharmacoeconomics, population health.
- Patient access experience (US and/or global), project management experience, strong advocacy/communication/team skills, critical thinking/analytics, ability to manage projects end-to-end, strong relationship/negotiation/listening skills, interface with senior management, influence in matrix/ambiguous environments, strong written/verbal presentation skills, and creativity/forsight.
