Job Description
Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Medical Sciences within HIV (Treatment and Prevention) – US field-based. Territory: NV, UT, ID.

Responsibilities
- Deliver timely, accurate, and succinct clinical, scientific, and educational presentations to healthcare providers in HIV Treatment and Prevention (proactively and in response to information requests) consistent with PhRMA guidelines and FDA regulatory requirements
- Implement defined goals and objectives aligned with the Medical Affairs Plan of Action and other strategic initiatives
- Develop strategic plans for cultivating and maintaining working relationships with existing and future thought leaders in the assigned region
- Provide timely insights to strategy and competitive intelligence teams regarding treatment practice and trends observed in field interactions
- Participate in advisory boards and educational programs, including speaker training sessions and clinical conferences
- Collaborate with Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Strategic Operations, Government and Public Affairs, Commercial, and Marketing
- Use scientific field tools/resources to deliver impactful presentations in a variety of settings
- Complete required administrative and training procedures in a timely fashion (e.g., policy/learning modules, expense reports, documentation of HCP interactions)
- Adhere to applicable pharmaceutical codes, Office of Inspector General (OIG) guidelines, and company policies
- Respond to clinical inquiries regarding marketed or developmental Gilead products
- Develop and present complex scientific and clinical data
- Identify and develop regional/national opinion leaders; train approved speakers via personal contacts and on-site visits
- Establish strong relationships with opinion leaders, clinical investigators, and providers in academic and non-academic settings
- Provide sales force training at national and regional levels
- Work on Gilead Phase IV program, including collaboration with investigators and internal personnel; recommend sites for Phase IV and other clinical trials
- Anticipate and resolve complex field obstacles collaboratively
- Travel frequently and regularly to appointments, meetings, and conferences (occasionally with short notice)
- Maintain strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
- Stay current on complex scientific data and field regulatory requirements; commit to continuing education

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree + 8 years’ experience OR Master’s degree + 6 years’ experience OR Ph.D.

Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, NP/PA) preferred; or BS in pharmacy or BS/MS nursing with varying clinical/industry experience
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience in a medically related profession (e.g., HIV treatment/prevention) with knowledge of the clinical research process, treatment landscape, and professional society treatment guidelines
- At least 3 years clinical practice experience
- Industry experience desirable
- Experience preparing and delivering presentations (required)
- Experience in management/investigation of clinical trials (highly desirable)
- Clinical patient contact experience (highly desirable)
- Able to travel 75% of the time (occasionally with short notice, regular overnights, some weekends)
- Valid driver’s license

Benefits / Compensation (as stated)
- Salary range: $165,495.00 - $214,170.00
- May be eligible for discretionary annual bonus and discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility varies); paid time off; and company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
