Role Summary

Medical Science Liaison, Neurodegeneration in the Ohio/Western PA region. The MSL engages in scientific exchange to enhance medical education, data generation, insight generation, and patients' access to medicine. The role focuses on identifying disease and product-related medical needs, building relationships with Thought Leaders and Healthcare Providers, and serving as a medical resource for external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with academic and community research thought leaders, HCPs, and access stakeholders within the geography to answer scientific, unsolicited product, and HEOR related questions, through various channels (1:1, group presentations, remote, etc.).
  • Present information to TL/HCPs with scientific accuracy and in compliance with guidelines; respond to questions using available resources.
  • Continuously assess the medical landscape, update knowledge on treatment strategies, products, unmet needs, clinical trials, HEOR, and competitive landscape; prepare to address informational needs of customers.
  • Identify opportunities to partner with HCPs on disease state initiatives, collaborative research, and ISR aligned with BMS objectives.
  • Attend medical congresses and local/regional meetings; communicate insights back to medical and commercial teams to support strategy and decisions.

Contribute to the Medical Plan

  • Develop geography-specific Field Medical and TL Interaction plans based on therapeutic-area objectives and TL needs.
  • Adopt institution/account planning and contribute to cross-functional plans.
  • Contribute to development and delivery of scientifically meaningful medical programs/projects aligned with the local Medical and Field Medical plan.

Provide Medical Support

  • Establish a customer-centric, compliant collaboration with cross-matrix field teams within the assigned geography.
  • Provide medical/scientific area and product-specific training and updates to internal stakeholders as needed (e.g., Commercial, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, Legal, HEOR, Value Access & Payment).
  • Provide scientific support at promotional meetings by presenting data, evaluating speakers, and supporting BMS-contracted speakers as applicable.
  • Participate in assigned Congress activities.

Support Clinical Trial Activities

  • Support Interventional and Non-Interventional Research (ISR) studies, including site identification/assessment to facilitate recruitment and discussions on safe use of BMS investigational products, per scope.
  • Provide recommendations on study/site feasibility based on field knowledge and investigator contacts.
  • Support HCPs in ISR submission and execution, and study follow-up as agreed.
  • Ensure pharmacovigilance documents are understood by investigators and alert BMS personnel to adverse events.
  • Actively support CRO-sponsored studies as defined by the scope.

Required Experience

  • MD, PharmD, PhD, APP, PA, NP with experience in Neuroscience or broad medical/pharmaceutical background.

Knowledge Desired

  • Disease area knowledge and understanding of scientific publications.
  • Knowledge of scientific/clinical areas, competitive landscape, and patient treatment trends.
  • Knowledge of clinical trial design and process.
  • Knowledge of national healthcare and access environment.
  • Knowledge of HEOR core concepts.
  • Excellent English language skills, spoken and written.

Experience Desired

  • Minimum of 2 years in a clinical and/or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Prior MSL experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to translate scientific data into understandable information for physicians.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to develop peer-to-peer relationships with TLs, scientists, and other professionals.
  • Ability to quickly learn new subject areas and environments.
  • Demonstration of BMS values.

Essential Qualification

  • Ability to drive a company-provided car is essential; must be able to drive to locations and demonstrate applied knowledge of health care trends with high ethics and a safe driving history.

Travel Requirement

  • Travel required; field-based role. Must live in the territory or within 50 miles of territory borders. Majority of time spent in the field with external customers; additional requirements may apply based on territory and team needs.
