Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Immunology - Dermatology (Central Texas: San Antonio & Austin, TX)
Responsibilities
- Provide fair, balanced, objective scientific information and education to opinion leaders (OLs), healthcare professionals, and internal partners.
- Serve as a scientific/clinical knowledge lead for current and future J&J Innovative Medicine products aligned to the Therapeutic Area (TA).
- Stay abreast of scientific and treatment landscape trends in the assigned therapeutic area.
- Provide research support for company and investigator-initiated research.
- Build and manage external relationships with identified OLs and HCPs (MD, PA, NP, RN, Pharm.D., biocoordinators), using virtual and in-person engagements (prioritize in-person when appropriate).
- Develop and maintain a territory strategic plan, including educational activities with OLs, HCPs, institutions, and community practices.
- Rapidly identify and compliantly collaborate with field-based partners to support Healthcare Providers and positively impact patients.
- Conduct activities in accordance with current regulatory and healthcare compliance guidelines.
- Develop and maintain a field strategic plan and respond timely to unsolicited scientific inquiries, integrating scientific data (including real-world evidence) into real-life practice.
- Present data and information appropriate to the audience and request.
- Execute reactive and proactive outreach plans as approved via the legal/HCC exceptions process.
- Prioritize franchise customer-based initiatives and field responsibilities while balancing administrative duties and projects.
- Engage external investigators for unsolicited research inquiries and act as liaison to R&D, Medical Affairs, and operations teams.
- Provide clinical trial support: identify potential sites, resolve issues at enrolled sites, and participate in meetings (including site initiation visits and investigator launch meetings).
- Participate in team calls, trainings, and journal clubs; attend scientific conferences; listen/document/share medical insights; conduct self-driven learning.
- Represent and support J&J at scientific/key stakeholder meetings (congresses, symposia, advisory boards, investigator meetings) and speaking engagements.
- Complete administrative requirements (e.g., expense reports, documentation of activities) accurately and compliantly.
- Maintain focus/composure in uncertain circumstances with minimal direction.
- Support sales training initiatives and improve field personnel competencies with Sales Learning and Development.
- Communicate and collaborate routinely with field partners and other Immunology MSL teams; apply MSL SOPs/guidelines and company HCC/Regulatory/Legal guidelines.
Qualifications
- PharmD, PhD, MD, or other advanced medical degree; or NP (Nurse Practitioner) or PA (Physician Assistant).
- 2+ years of relevant TA clinical experience.
- Ability to travel up to 60% (estimated 60%), including overnight travel and some weekend commitments; may require occasional travel outside assigned geography.
- Ability to drive to or fly to meetings/congresses/headquarters.
- Valid U.S. driverβs license and clean driving record.
- Reside within the defined assigned territory.
Preferred
- 2+ years of relevant experience (clinical, research, fellowship, or pharmaceutical) with presentation skills.
- Knowledge/experience in the relevant TA and/or Immunology.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, computers, and remote technologies.
- Reside in or near San Antonio and Austin, TX.
