Role Summary
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based clinical role responsible for providing fair, balanced, objective scientific information and education to opinion leaders, healthcare professionals, and internal partners. The MSL develops and maintains a geographical territory, builds external relationships with identified clinicians and providers, and contributes to a territory strategic plan with educational activities. The role requires strong scientific acumen, collaboration with field partners, and adherence to regulatory and compliance guidelines; travel is required, primarily within the assigned geography.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a field strategic plan for the territory
- Respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries from healthcare professionals and decision makers, integrating scientific data including real-world evidence
- Presents data and information in an audience-appropriate manner
- Execute reactive and proactive outreach plans within approved compliance processes
- Integrate scientific data into real-life practice and adapt communication style accordingly
- Anticipate responses of various stakeholders and balance franchise initiatives with administrative duties

- Leverage standards of care knowledge and clinical trial/literature landscape to facilitate external-internal research communication
- Engage with external investigators regarding inquiries and liaison to R&D, Medical Affairs, and operations
- Provide clinical trial support to identify sites, resolve site issues, and participate in meetings (e.g., site initiations, investigator launches)
- Lead at least one scientific or strategic Immunology project and identify educational gaps to elevate team knowledge

- Attend scientific conferences, participate in team calls/trainings, and share scientific news
- Listen for, document, and share medical insights; synthesize data for the MSL team and partners
- Represent and support the company at relevant scientific meetings and speaking engagements

- Perform administrative requirements in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner
- Provide regional and local support to enhance training and competencies of field personnel
- Collaborate with field-based partners and other Immunology MSL teams regularly
Qualifications
- Required: PharmD, PhD, MD, or other advanced medical degree, with 2+ years of relevant therapeutic area clinical experience
- Required: Ability to travel up to 70% (overnight, including some weekend commitments)
- Required: Ability to drive and fly to meetings/congresses/headquarters; valid U.S. driverβs license and clean driving record
Preferred
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience including clinical, research, fellowship, or pharmaceutical roles with presentation skills
- Knowledge or experience in the relevant therapeutic area and/or Immunology
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and remote technologies
- Residence on or near Long Island
