Role Summary

Medical Liaison - Obesity & Liver Health - Northern Plains (NE, IA, ND, SD). Builds relationships with healthcare providers, educates on clinical outcomes and benefits of Novo Nordisk products, and provides medical information and coordination of educational activities. Functions as a scientific liaison between Novo Nordisk and external customers to support scientific exchange and field medical activities.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative Duties:
    • Completes administrative duties accurately and timely in line with SOPs and practices
    • Complies with guidelines, policies, legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements
    • Manages regional business and operational budgets
    • Understands Novo Nordisk processes and assists others to use them
    • Provides monthly reports on scientific support activities and budget expenditures
    • Records activities in the customer response management system and expenses in Concur per FMA procedures
  • Advocacy & Professional Relationship Development:
    • Attends medical and scientific meetings; stays current on issues and data for NNI products
    • Develops relationships with health care providers and integrated health networks
    • Promotes appropriate use of NNI products and services
    • Supports and assists colleagues in answering provider questions
    • Develops medical account strategy and identifies collaboration opportunities
  • Field-Based Clinical Support:
    • Collaborates with HEOR to present scientific value propositions; delivers HEOR presentations
    • Works with Marketing and Sales to inform scientific strategies for product development and medical community engagement
    • Coordinates with trial sites to facilitate studies, support recruitment, and report results
    • Coordinates with regional FMA team to ensure comprehensive coverage of clinical/scientific needs
    • Provides customized clinical education and manages relationships within IHNs
    • Educates chief executives, medical directors, and formulary stakeholders to secure access to products
    • Develops and presents product and scientific updates, including formulary presentations

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree required
  • At least two years’ experience in a health-related system, pharmaceutical company, or managed care environment required
  • Relevant clinical and/or therapeutic experience preferred
  • Business acumen/knowledge from formulary process experience
  • Extensive experience in diabetes strongly preferred
  • Strong communication skills

Education

  • Doctoral degree required

Additional Requirements

  • 50-75% overnight travel required; valid driver’s license; maintain good standing per MVR review
