Position Summary
The Materials Associate I is responsible for shipping and receiving activities including storage and transport of materials from suppliers, vendors and third-party warehouse to production areas.
Position Scope / Responsibilities
- Perform Manufacturing Support activities in accordance with SOPs, cGMPs, and safety regulations.
- Receive and distribute Quality Controlled inspected and non-Quality Control inventoried material and general goods.
- Load/unload delivery vehicles; assemble stock onto pallets, racks, bins, shelves, refrigerators and freezers.
- Open cartons/bundles/containers and move stock to storage locations.
- Store, transfer, and distribute material per specific material requirements.
- Maintain LN2 and CO2 systems, including weekly manual fills of Liquid Nitrogen Cryovials Storage Dewars.
- Assist with data entry of in-transit requests for material from third-party off-site storage.
- Maintain inventory control in ERP via system transactions at receipt, storage, and distribution.
- Perform routine inventory cycle counts and participate in scheduled annual physical inventories.
- Assist with Surgeon Training Kits order requests (preparation and sanitization of reusable material).
- Prepare Vericel Biopsy Kit assemblies; perform Biopsy Accessioning (Receipt and Inspection) processes.
- Assist with inventory sales order fulfillment and end-of-day closing activities.
- Investigate and resolve receiving issues and coordinate material returns with Materials Management and Accounting.
- Maintain material staging areas; interact with QA, R&D, QC, Materials Management, Sales/Marketing, Facilities/Engineering, Finance, Third-Party Logistics, and Customer Care.
Qualifications
- GED/high school diploma or equivalent with at least 1 year of experience in a cGMP environment in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
- Ability to comply with regulatory compliance.
- Experience in high-volume, fast-paced materials/manufacturing support.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; organizational and teamwork skills.
- Experience operating motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment.
- MS Office experience.
- Knowledge of an ERP inventory system.
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
- May work in classified/controlled areas (e.g., clean room) with required garments and PPE.
- Stand for long periods; lift/push/pull up to 40 lbs.
- Must operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment.
- Willing to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
Schedule
- Onsite SundayโThursday, 8:00amโ4:30pm in Burlington, MA; occasional days in Cambridge, MA during transition.
