Role Summary

The Marketing Director, Long-Acting HIV Prevention – U.S. Launch Lead is a critical role within ViiV’s HIV Prevention US brand leadership team, partnering with Field Commercial, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Insights & Analytics, and Global/Regional marketing. The role leads a highly visible, transformational launch and accelerates personal leadership growth, with accountability for end-to-end U.S. commercialization strategy for a future generation of long-acting HIV prevention therapies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end U.S. commercialization strategy for the future generation of Long-Acting Injection for HIV Prevention.
  • Lead U.S. brand strategy development in close partnership with senior HIV Prevention leadership, including HCP, Digital, Strategy and Community Marketing Directors.
  • Own cross-functional launch readiness across Medical, Communications, Market Access, Payer, and Implementation teams; drive accountability for plans, milestones, and resource gaps.
  • Partner with Sales and Sales Operations to assess promotional strategy, field effectiveness, and executional evolution over time.
  • Deliver a cohesive strategy anchored in field, customer, and market insights.
  • Define and build a roadmap leveraged by Treatment teams for future portfolio launches, integrating treatment perspectives where appropriate.
  • Lead regular communication with senior internal stakeholders, establishing governance forums and decision-making processes.
  • Assess competitive landscape to evolve product positioning in collaboration with Global Teams; continuously refine positioning.
  • Lead financial planning, including investment recommendations vs. forecast with ROI diagnostics and performance metrics.
  • Leverage Insights & Analytics to define research priorities and optimize brand strategy and execution.
  • Elevate brand needs across the organization and simplify implementation for customers and consumers.
  • Develop an external engagement strategy incorporating patient ambassadors and external experts, in partnership with portfolio and medical teams.
  • Develop a peer-to-peer engagement plan to socialize pre-launch information and anticipate market needs.
  • Define the agency engagement model and oversee transition of marketing agency support as the brand evolves.

Qualifications

  • Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Health, Life Sciences, or a STEM-related field.
    • 8+ years of commercial marketing experience within pharmaceutical or biotechnology organizations.
    • 3+ years of people management experience.
    • U.S. commercial experience leading pre-launch and launch phases for pharmaceutical brands.
    • Sales experience with demonstrated understanding of field execution.
    • Experience working cross-functionally with Medical, Regulatory, and Market Access teams.
    • Experience using data analytics to develop marketing strategies.
  • Preferred:
    • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
    • Deep expertise in the U.S. pharmaceutical commercial environment.
    • Experience with implementation models (e.g., specialty pharmacy, buy-and-bill, site-of-care complexity).
    • Field leadership experience.
    • Broad commercial experience (market access, strategy, operations).
    • Experience in HIV prevention and/or long-acting therapies in the U.S. market.
    • Familiarity with omnichannel marketing platforms.
    • Demonstrated use of AI / advanced analytics to drive commercial decisions.
    • Experience collaborating with community organizations, advocacy groups, or public health programs.
    • Comfortable working in a hybrid model with regular in-person collaboration.
