Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop Vertex’s direct-to-patient strategy across brands, assets, and therapeutic areas to improve diagnosis and treatment access
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging digital health models
- Identify and address patient drop-off points across diagnosis, provider referral, reimbursement, prescription routing, and therapy initiation
- Evaluate DTP opportunities based on drop-off points and therapy-area dynamics
- Design and optimize end-to-end patient pathways (awareness, activation, care, conversion, therapy start, adherence)
- Build business cases for DTP investments (acquisition cost economics, lifetime value, infrastructure costs, conversion assumptions, ROI measurement)
- Define and implement DTP models (journey orchestration, access navigation, direct commerce, go-to-market reconfiguration)
- Partner cross-functionally to connect patient touchpoints into a seamless experience
- Establish shared goals, KPIs, and governance across teams; build modular enterprise capabilities
- Oversee external partnerships/vendors for telehealth, pharmacy, fulfillment, diagnostics, and digital engagement
- Drive patient engagement innovation (education, screening, targeting/retargeting, closed-loop optimization)
- Ensure initiatives align with legal, regulatory, privacy, data governance, and patient experience standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (MBA/MPH/MS preferred)
- 8+ years in biopharma/healthcare/digital health/patient services
- 5+ years leadership in patient access, commercialization, patient support, digital health, market access, and/or omnichannel engagement
- Experience designing/scaling patient-centric programs across the patient journey
- Strong pharmaceutical commercialization, specialty access, and reimbursement dynamics knowledge
- Experience building business cases, operating models, and strategic roadmaps
- Proven complex cross-functional leadership (internal/external stakeholders)
- Strong analytical/problem-solving; translate data to recommendations
- Executive communication/presentation skills
- Experience in highly regulated environments

- Experience launching/managing DTP, direct commerce, or digitally enabled patient access models
- Specialty therapy and high-friction access familiarity; cash-pay/affordability/alternative payment models
- Non-dispensing pharmacy/hub/specialty distribution familiarity
- Integrating digital, medical, market access, and commercial strategies into one pathway; patient experience design/service operations
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; typically 10 years work experience + 3 years supervisory/management experience
Pay Range
- $196,000 - $294,000
