Role Summary

Manager, US Trade Programs at AbbVie. Leads a US/PR trade compliance team (3-4 people) and oversees US/PR operational trade programs, including Foreign Trade Zones and other special trade programs. Partners across Operations, R&D, and Commercial to optimize trade compliance operations, enhance decision-making, and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities

  • Exemplifies leadership principles and provides innovative, strategic, and evidence-based support to optimize operations and reduce costs.
  • Manages a trade compliance team in the U.S./PR (3-4 people) to drive operational and compliance excellence.
  • Advises and supports the business on import/export compliance matters, regulatory changes, providing strategic and tactical leadership.
  • Develops and drives solutions and controls around changes facing the business.
  • Drives operational process excellence and fosters a culture of continuous improvement in GTC for innovation, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with internal functions to raise awareness of global trade compliance issues.
  • Analyzes feasibility of trade optimization opportunities, including cost-benefit analyses considering resources, outsourcing, and capability requirements.
  • Partners with internal GTC teams and cross-functional partners to execute complex projects for U.S./PR trade operations.
  • Identifies impactful ideas and aligns efforts with functional priorities.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in English
  • University degree or background in a related field (e.g., business administration, economics, information technology, engineering, supply chain, logistics, computer science, data science). Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in strategy, technology management, or related field, with a proven track record leading strategic initiatives.
  • Understanding of global trade compliance regulations, processes, and best practices, with interest in leveraging technology to address compliance challenges.
  • Excellent project management skills, with ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to generate insights from data and drive data-driven decision-making.
