Job Description:
The Takeda Tax Manager supports U.S. tax reporting, direct and indirect tax compliance, planning, and controversy, driving continuous process improvement through tax technology, automation, data analytics, and emerging AI-enabled solutions. Ensures accurate and timely reporting of federal and state income/franchise and indirect tax obligations (e.g., sales/use, personal property) and supports U.S. audits and projects.
Responsibilities:
- Review and manage working papers, schedules, reports/memos, tax returns, and income tax accounting items.
- Support preparation/review of quarterly/annual U.S. income tax provisions, develop workplans, and ensure SOX compliance.
- Review and manage U.S. income tax compliance work (estimates, extensions, returns).
- Prepare/review documentation and responses for state and federal tax controversy.
- Manage outsourced indirect tax compliance (sales/use, property tax, other filings), coordinate service providers, and resolve notices/compliance issues.
- Evaluate and leverage tax technology tools, data analytics, AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency/accuracy.
- Co-supervise, mentor, and develop staff and manage contractor positions.
- Monitor tax law changes and assess organizational impact.
- Conduct technical tax research and document conclusions.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- BS/BA in accounting/finance; CPA or MS in Taxation preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. corporate federal and state tax law.
- Proficiency in tax research tools.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
- High attention to detail; ability to assist on multiple workstreams.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively across teams.
Desired:
- Tax software/ERP (e.g., OneSource, SAP, HFM, HTP, Blackline).
- Tax tech/data analytics/workflow automation (Power BI, Alteryx, Power Automate, etc.).
- Public accounting/pharma experience.
Additional:
- Hybrid work; onsite required at least 8 days/month; live within commuting distance of Exton, PA or Bannockburn, IL.
