Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end payroll to ensure accurate, timely processing for all employees.
- Partner with Finance/Accounting on payroll funding, reconciliations, reporting, and accounting.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage/tax regulations; manage payroll tax filings, year-end processes, W-2s, and required reporting.
- Review payroll results for discrepancies; manage payroll-related audits and inquiries.
- Partner with HR/Finance on compensation changes (bonuses, commissions, equity-related payroll, and other special requirements).
- Maintain payroll procedures/controls; automate and streamline payroll processes.
- Administer health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA, HSA, 401k and others); manage leave of absences.
- Lead benefits renewal and open enrollment; evaluate and recommend benefit program improvements.
- Manage benefit vendors; ensure eligibility, enrollment, deductions, and employee change accuracy.
- Ensure benefits compliance (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, Section 125, and other applicable regulations) and coordinate filings/notices/audits/reporting.
- Lead payroll/benefits compliance, documentation, controls, audits, HRIS data accuracy, system enhancements, reporting/analytics, and data reconciliation across HR/payroll/benefits/finance.
- Lead and develop the payroll/benefits team; manage vendor relationships and serve as escalation subject matter expert.

Qualifications (Required/Preferred)
- 6+ years progressive payroll/benefits/HR ops experience; prior experience managing multi-state payroll and employee benefits programs.
- Strong Workday experience.
- Strong payroll/payroll tax knowledge (incl. equity, commissions, bonuses, garnishments, relocation/housing allowance).
- Experience with fully insured and self-insured benefits plans and benefits compliance.
- Direct team supervision; scaling experience a plus.
- Vendor/broker relationship management; process improvement mindset.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; CPP/FPC/CEBS or similar certification desired; Ex-US experience preferred.
