Role Summary
Manager Lab Instrumentation Services-Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) at Groton, CT. Leads preventative maintenance, calibrations, repairs, and installation of R&D instrumentation critical for Preclinical & Translational Services (P&T S) scientistsβΓΓ΄ development of novel medicines. Manages LC-MS equipment and provides general support for other instrumentation as time permits.
Responsibilities
- Independently service and maintain lab instrumentation equipment so scientists can deliver breakthrough medicines.
- Perform system diagnostics of highly technical and complex scientific equipment as necessary.
- Provide advanced support and troubleshooting on a wide range of analytical instrumentation.
- Demonstrate expert knowledge in LC-MS equipment and related systems.
- Identify and manage high-value cost and time savings opportunities.
- Develop strategic alliances with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to leverage technology advantage.
- Identify problems and inefficiencies, propose and implement improvements with approval.
- Develop new processes to improve efficiency and cost savings.
- Lead or participate in installation, configuration and operation of instrumentation and software; collaborate with Digital and other groups as needed.
- Update Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) with maintenance, asset management, and work orders data.
- Provide consultation on lab and process area design with scientists.
- Drive cost-reduction initiatives using discretion and judgment with approval.
- Share expertise and provide training to Pfizer teammates; attend OEM training as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum: BS in Engineering, Chemistry, or Biochemistry with 4+ years of experience.
- Or: AS in Engineering, Chemistry, or Biochemistry with at least 8 years of experience.
- Or: High school diploma with 10+ years of relevant laboratory instrumentation services experience or extensive OEM training plus 5βΓΓ¬10 years of engineering experience in support of high-end analytical instrumentation.
- Experience and repair competency with LC-MS, HPLC, analyzers, flow spectrometers, and related equipment (e.g., Tecan, Biomek, Beckman liquid handlers, plate readers).
- Experience with GxP compliance.
