Role Summary

Manager, Electrical Engineer role focusing on electrical infrastructure, project oversight, and site utilities within a biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Responsible for engineering support, maintenance planning, project design and oversight, safety and regulatory compliance, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support, system ownership and subject matter expertise for electrical infrastructure including utility electrical infrastructure, substations, UPS, generators, motor control centers, distribution panels, transformers, motors, transfer switches, lighting, grounding and lightning protection, heat race, etc.
  • Provide guidance and oversee preventative maintenance of electrical equipment, including Job Plan development and maintenance.
  • Oversee electrical elements of new projects including development of Scope of Requirements, Basis of Design, Detailed Design, installation, commissioning, as-built documentation, and turnover of equipment.
  • Evaluate impact to site operations from applicable activities including Preventative Maintenance, infrastructure modifications, testing, etc.; coordinate with end users/stakeholders to mitigate risk.
  • Engage with EHS and task execution teams to ensure safety evaluations, planning, and implementation measures.
  • Provide Subject Matter technical expertise for equipment ensuring continued compliance to regulatory, company and site policy and procedure.
  • Provide Subject Matter expertise for root cause evaluations, investigations, deviations, change management, and corrective actions.
  • Perform Power Studies including Fault Current calculations, Protective Device/Relay evaluations and setting, Arc Flash Analysis and labeling.
  • Review electric rooms and maintain cleanliness, organization, and safe working environment.
  • Maintain solid working relationships with internal manufacturing, Site Engineering, Quality, external vendors, and Third Party Facilities Management.
  • Work within office and campus facilities; operate in manufacturing areas with potential hazardous chemicals requiring PPE.
  • Ensure direction and decisions align with site management; handle complex assignments requiring initiative and problem solving; understand potential impact on programs and finances.
  • Work under general direction; determine approach to solutions and execute with minimal oversight; some assignments may lack defined processes.
  • May direct Third Party integrators and manage temporary engineering support and contractors.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant biopharmaceutical industry experience, including plant utilities and auxiliary systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex technical projects; GMP experience; familiarity with large-scale manufacturing operations.
  • Effective in both team and individual work environments.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles related to industrial building utilities troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work extended hours or a modified schedule for 24/7 operation coverage and urgent events.
  • Proactive troubleshooting mindset and ongoing professional/technical development.
