Role Summary
The Contract Manager is responsible for end-to-end processing of all in-scope service contracts with third-party vendors, across low, medium, and high business risk and complexity, from intake to execution, in collaboration with SME reviewers, contract owners, requesters, and procurement category managers, in line with Procurement policy. The role utilizes the Contract Lifecycle Management platform daily and drives continuous improvements in the contracting process and system, acting as an internal consultant to category managers on in-scope contract legal matters and processes.
Responsibilities
- Determine appropriate contracting vehicle for incoming requests based on Procurement policies
- Review contract intake form for completeness and accuracy; identify required SME reviewers and collaborate with stakeholders
- Triage special case contracts to Category Managers and Legal SME based on criteria
- Draft and review contracts in compliance with contract playbooks; consult with SME reviewers for guidance
- Negotiate contract redlines with vendors; lead negotiations and coordinate internal decisions
- Provide guidance on contract risks to internal stakeholders
- Orchestrate contracts for approvals and signatures; manage bottlenecks during approvals and execution
- Provide input to SMEs on playbooks, templates, and internal guidance documents
- Assist in developing training materials and facilitate training sessions as needed
- Input key contract data into databases to enable KPI tracking and insights
- Embrace technology such as AI-assisted redlining and other digital innovations
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities in contracting processes and tools
- Execute specific contract processes such as MSA expiration management and lookup tasks
- Collaborate with Global on CLM features and version updates
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
- Paralegal certification is a plus
- At least 10 years of contract processing, reviewing, and negotiating experience in a medium/large company or managed contracts service provider; strong understanding of key contract provisions; non-clinical contract experience preferred
- At least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
- Knowledge of service categories including Professional Services, Management Consulting, Supply Chain, IT, Media, Marketing, Agencies, and others
- Excellent stakeholder management and customer focus

- Experience with Source-to-Pay platforms or CLM tools; DocuSign is preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Teams
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
- Paralegal certification is a plus
