Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of bioinformatics scientists (hiring support, onboarding, performance management, career development, workload prioritization).
- Manage day-to-day bioinformatics operations and deliver high-quality analytical solutions across development, validation, and production.
- Create project plans, priorities, timelines, and resource allocations.
- Develop, optimize, validate, and maintain NGS bioinformatics pipelines and workflows.
- Support end-to-end genomic data analysis (QC, alignment, variant calling, annotation, filtering, interpretation support, reporting).
- Lead analytical development/validation for NGS assays (performance assessment, reproducibility, concordance, quality metrics, documentation).
- Implement scalable, automated, reproducible computational workflows using best practices.
- Partner with software engineering and IT for cloud infrastructure, workflow execution, data storage, monitoring, and performance.
- Ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, documentation, privacy, and security requirements.
- Translate scientific/clinical needs into analytical solutions with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Investigate and resolve complex pipeline/assay/data quality issues.
- Serve as technical SME and stay current on emerging genomics/bioinformatics methods.

Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology/Biostatistics/Computer Science/Genomics/Molecular Biology (or related).
- 5–8 years hands-on NGS bioinformatics pipeline development/validation/production.
- 2–4 years people leadership.
- Strong NGS analysis knowledge and genomic interpretation.
- Programming: Python, Bash, SQL, R (or equivalent).
- AWS or other cloud computing experience.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving.
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Research and clinical bioinformatics experience.
- Liquid biopsy/MRD/cancer early detection/ctDNA.
- Multi-omic integration.
- Regulated environment experience (CLIA, CAP, NYSDOH, FDA, ISO, etc.).
- Validation reports, technical/regulatory documentation, publications.
