Position Summary
Manager, Bioinformatics leads a team developing, validating, implementing, and supporting NGS bioinformatics pipelines and analytical workflows in a clinical/translational genomics environment.

Job Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop bioinformatics scientists (hiring support, onboarding, performance management, career development, workload prioritization).
- Manage day-to-day operations; deliver high-quality solutions across development, validation, and production.
- Create project plans, priorities, timelines, and resource allocations.
- Oversee development/optimization/validation/maintenance of NGS pipelines and workflows.
- Support end-to-end genomic analysis (QC, alignment, variant calling, annotation, filtering, interpretation support, reporting).
- Lead analytical development and validation for NGS assays (performance, reproducibility, concordance, quality metrics, documentation).
- Implement scalable, automated, reproducible computational workflows.
- Partner with software engineering/IT for cloud infrastructure, workflow execution, storage, monitoring, and performance.
- Ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, documentation, privacy, and security requirements.
- Translate scientific/clinical requirements into analytical solutions; monitor progress, risks, dependencies; resolve pipeline/assay/data quality issues.
- Serve as technical subject matter expert; stay current on genomics/bioinformatics advances.

Required Qualifications
- PhD in relevant field.
- 5–8 years hands-on NGS bioinformatics experience.
- 2–4 years people leadership.
- Project management and cross-functional coordination.
- Strong NGS analysis knowledge; programming in Python, Bash, SQL, and/or R.
- AWS (or equivalent cloud) experience.
- Strong communication/collaboration; Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications
- Research + clinical bioinformatics experience.
- Liquid biopsy/MRD/ctDNA/cancer early detection.
- Multi-omic integration.
- CLIA/CAP/NYSDOH/FDA/ISO (or comparable regulated environments).
- Validation reports/technical documentation/regulatory support/publications.

Other
- May require occasional travel, after-hours support, and on-call activities.
