Role Summary

Bio-Techne is seeking an experienced working manager to drive application development and lead a team within the Western and Cellular Analytics and Biologics Business Units. The role requires hands-on lab work (25-50% time) and mentoring, designing and executing complex experiments. The Applications Science Team provides technical and customer-facing support, creates scientific content, leads collaborations, and pursues emerging applications using ProteinSimple platforms (Simple Western, Maurice, Pala, MFI, Single-cell Western). The position focuses on Western and Cellular Analytics, leveraging immunoassay development experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, train, and mentor a team of scientists in the generation of high-impact scientific content
  • Lead cross-functional and cross-business projects to further Western and Cellular Analytics application development
  • Execute complex experiments (25-50% of time) to support existing products and/or develop new applications
  • Act as the technical point of contact and subject matter expert for Western and Cellular Analytics-focused projects
  • Investigate, identify, and champion new research areas for Western and Cellular Analytics application development
  • Follow guidelines and comply with all company safety, quality, and training procedures and regulations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Required: Ph.D. in a related field and minimum of 5+ years of post-degree relevant experience
  • Required: M.S in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, biotechnology, or a related field and 8+ years of post-degree relevant experience
  • Required: Minimum of 2+ years of people leadership or project management experience
  • Required: Demonstrated expertise in immunoassay development
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience using ProteinSimple Simple Western instrumentation is highly desirable

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge in the development of immunoassays (e.g., ELISA, western blot, MSD)
  • Ability to analyze complex data and results to draw conclusions
  • Leadership in training, coaching, and mentoring other lab members; experience leading cross-functional teams on complex projects is a plus
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including writing clear and concise technical content
  • Ability to work independently on complex projects and determine priorities for self and others
  • Highly motivated and able to balance several projects concurrently
  • Outstanding documentation and organizational skills
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with GraphPad Prism and/or JMP software is a plus

  • Ph.D. in a related field
