The Position: Revenue Accounting Manager for partnership/collaboration accounting and commercial revenue. Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, working with the Controller. Based in Pasadena or San Diego, CA; in office 5 days/week.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as subject-matter expert for revenue accounting under ASC 606 and U.S. GAAP; review complex partnership/customer contracts and determine revenue recognition and disclosure requirements.
- Establish and maintain revenue accounting policies/procedures; ensure SOX control requirements are met.
- Partner with FP&A to track actual labor hours, update budgeted resource assumptions, and ensure audit-ready input-method revenue recognition.
- Lead order-to-cash month-end and quarter-end close: journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, flux analysis.
- Support gross-to-net revenue accounting, including review of third-party support.
- Prepare revenue-related disclosures for Forms 10-Q and 10-K.
- Prepare and maintain SOX-compliant controls for revenue and accounts receivable cycles.
Requirements:
- Bachelorβs in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years financial accounting with significant focus on ASC 606 revenue recognition.
- In-depth U.S. GAAP and SOX knowledge for revenue recognition, receivables, contract assets, and deferred revenue.
- Ability to manage complex monthly/quarterly close.
- Communicate complex accounting guidance to non-finance partners.
- Lead change initiatives and multi-phase projects.
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy/detail, tight-timeline delivery.
- Strong oral/written communication; integrity.
- Adaptable; excellent team player; self-motivated.
- Occasional travel between locations.
Preferred:
- Technical accounting experience in life sciences/biotech/pharma.
- Big 4 and/or public company experience.
