Position Summary
The Manager – Accessioning oversees clerical and ancillary duties, ensures consistent case workflow, troubleshoots issues, and provides direct line supervision of Accessioning Supervisors. Manages specimen turn-around times, regulatory activities, employee schedules/training, conflicts (with HR), and cross-functional interactions to maintain optimal case flow and adherence to laboratory procedures and policies.

Job Responsibilities
- Manage Accessioning Supervisors and case workflow activities.
- Adhere to QC/quality control policies; document QC, instrument/procedural calibrations and maintenance.
- Follow policies/procedures when test systems fall outside acceptable performance levels; document corrective actions.
- Track/accumulate/compute performance metrics; ensure adequate supply inventories.
- Resolve employee relations issues; recommend disciplinary action with HR.
- Act as first point of contact; communicate updates and new processes.
- Support special projects/related duties.
- Understand and communicate Accessioning protocols from Lab Management.
- Engage leadership for instruction and growth.
- Assist with cleaning/maintenance of lab workspace and equipment.
- Maintain professional demeanor; positive peer/management relationships.
- Filing, tracking, retrieval, and accurate record keeping.
- Maintain pre-analytic specimen viability and correct patient labeling per SOPs; ensure LIS/log entries.
- Perform QA/QC of pre-analytic cases; develop protocols/SOPs; initiate change controls.
- Cross-function with Customer Support, Supply Chain, Molecular Leaders, Field Team, Software, Automation, Privacy, Clinical Research, and Billing; lead pre-analytic improvement projects.
- Train new hires/peers; troubleshoot to maintain pre-analytic workflow.
- Participate in recruitment; drive scalability via automation; lead clinical/pharma research efforts aligned to workflows; drive software solutions.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in general laboratory operations.
- 1 year of leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of leadership experience in a high-volume reference laboratory setting.

Physical Demands
- Sit/stand/work at a computer for long periods.
- Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens, extreme temperatures, noise, fumes, and bio-hazardous materials/chemicals.
- Visual acuity; ability to pass color discrimination test; repetitive motion.
- Lift up to 30 pounds.

Other
- Periodic travel and some evenings/weekends/holidays.
