Role Summary
The Maintenance Technician II provides high-level maintenance support for equipment in the Galaxy filling process at TakedaβΓΓ΄s Round Lake, IL site. They ensure manufacturing lines are well maintained and ready to run, perform on-time preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. The role requires independent work, collaboration with manufacturing, engineering and quality teams, and may require overtime, weekends, and plant shutdowns. This is a night shift position (6:00 pm βΓΓ¬ 6:30 am) on a 2-2-3 schedule.
Responsibilities
- Accomplishes objectives with a high degree of autonomy
- Learn and follow corporate specifications and GMP requirements for the Galaxy process
- Monitor manufacturing lines and communicate with production to reduce downtime
- Provide expert troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Review PMs, verify parts stock, and complete PMs on time
- Build and rebuild machine assemblies
- Report equipment issues and work status per Stop and Fix guidelines
- Initiate work orders in the CMMS (JD Edwards/JDE)
- Perform PM work and document related activities to maintain equipment reliability
- Record downtime, alarms, and issues; analyze trends to prevent recurrence
- Share knowledge and train less experienced technicians on the Galaxy process
- Handle robots in production modes; troubleshoot robotics and quality defects
- Seek help from leads and engineering as needed
- Promote safe work practices and escalate unsafe conditions
- Maintain 100% on-time completion of required training
Qualifications
- Required: High school diploma or GED; plus 2+ years of experience, or an Associate degree or higher with 1+ years of related experience
- Preferred: Technical certifications
- Preferred: 3+ years of manufacturing systems experience
- Preferred: Prior experience in an FDA-regulated environment
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic drawings
- Experience with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to learn programmable logic controllers (PLC)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills; good documentation practices
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and JDE or similar CMMS
- Must not be allergic to Cephalosporin or related products
- Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or higher preferred
Additional Requirements
- Work in a controlled environment with gowning and protective equipment; possible hearing protection
- May require removal of makeup, jewelry, contact lenses, nails in manufacturing areas
- Work in cold, wet environments and around chemicals requiring respiratory protection
- May work multiple shifts, including weekends; overtime as needed
- Lift up to 100 lbs with assistance; stand/walk for extended periods
- May require working in confined spaces and around moving equipment
- Immunization may be required for manufacturing area work
- Must be able to work non-traditional hours, including holidays, as needed
- Flexibility to support different shifts and overtime as required
