Job Summary
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this 2nd shift Maintenance Technician supports the operation, maintenance, and repair of manufacturing and packaging equipment, and performs general facility upkeep. Requires working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled systems and the ability to perform basic building repairs and work independently.
Principal Responsibilities
- Build, repair, install, and maintain high-speed packaging equipment, conveyor systems, and facility infrastructure
- Perform mechanical and electrical repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance
- Install new machinery; assist with capital equipment installations; support electrical wiring
- Rebuild, fabricate, and replace parts as needed
- Maintain and repair pumps, gears, fans, compressors, and related systems
- Maintain utilities and facility systems (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, masonry)
- Monitor equipment performance and safety standards; complete scheduled inspections
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment (safety standards, GMP, 6S)
- Monitor and coordinate on-site repair contractors
- Collaborate with Production Supervisors to troubleshoot, communicate risks, and identify improvements
- Assist maintenance team members; participate in lean manufacturing/continuous improvement
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Education, Experience & Skills
- Read/interpret blueprints, electrical/mechanical schematics, and PLCs; follow manuals/procedures/troubleshooting guides
- Hands-on hydraulic and pneumatic systems; welding and electrical experience; equipment troubleshooting
- Attention to detail; multitask/prioritize; basic computer skills
- Effective communication and professional conflict handling
- Work flexible hours; reliable attendance; team collaboration and coaching
- Willingness to give/receive feedback; commitment to continuous improvement
- Familiarity with FDA/GMP requirements (change control and preventive maintenance preferred)
- Physical ability: stand/sit up to 10 hours/day (intermittent); bend/twist up to 2 hours/day (intermittent)
