Role Summary

The Maintenance Repair Technician is an integral part of the Maintenance team based out of the US - Chicago Heights, IL site. The position is responsible for the safe and overall efficient operation of the production line equipment, tow motors, and facilities. This role supports preventive maintenance, repairs, and improvements to ensure reliable production operations.

Responsibilities

  • Performing preventive maintenance, repairs, improvements, and modifications to production, utility, and facility equipment including but not limited to: fermenters, drying equipment, baggers, palletizers, pumps, air compressors, boilers, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Provide training with respect to the maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems in compliance with company standards, procedures, and government regulations (SOPs, GMPs, GLPs, PSM, etc).
  • Serve as maintenance advisor to provide input to projects in areas of equipment design, parts and material selection, documentation, testing, problem solving, maintenance requirements, project scope, and follow-up.
  • Assist with priority assessment and decision making related to troubleshooting and diagnostics of equipment operations; work with operations to determine root cause and establish proper corrective actions.
  • Conduct assembly, repair, and proactive maintenance for packaging, fermentation, utility, and facility equipment and systems in a cost-effective manner.
  • Review equipment operation to identify deficiencies or improvements to aid in increasing OEE.
  • Read and understand drawings / blueprints for installation / repair of equipment.
  • Use precision measuring devices and machinistโ€™s shop tools.

Qualifications

  • Required: A valid driverโ€™s license to operate company vehicles.
  • Required: Solid understanding of GMP manufacturing processes, equipment and facilities; knowledge of pharmaceutical/biotech industry operations; ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Required: Ability to analyze problems and provide support for corrective and preventative actions with minimal assistance; capable of managing multiple assignments and adapting to changes.
  • Required: Computer proficiency with email; internet/online training; working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Required: Proven ability to coordinate multiple activities and work effectively in a team environment; strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Required: Willingness to assist other technicians with tasks and work as a solid team player.

Skills

  • Must have acceptable attendance to meet company standards.
  • Ability to coordinate many activities and multi-task.
  • General maintenance skills; ability to complete safety-related training.

Education

  • Journeyman Certificate with 3โ€“5 years of manufacturing experience, or Technical/Vocational School diploma with 5โ€“8 years of machine repair or machinist-related experience.
